Research Problem: To assess the effectiveness of a ten-week Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intervention; as well as a ten-week CBT in combination with SSRI medications, for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), thirty Middle East War veterans diagnosed with PTSD were randomly assigned to either the CBT treatment group (n = 10), the CBT+SSRI treatment group (n = 10), or Waiting Control Group (n = 10). At the end of the tenth week all participants were administered a battery of psychological tests including the Beck Depression Inventory (Beck, et al., 1988), the Beck Hopelessness Scale (Beck, 1988), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (Beck et al., 1988), and the Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen, et al., 1983). Using the attached spss data file analyze the results and summarize the findings in correct APA Style:

Specifically,

1) Describe the research question and the research design.

2) Create the Null and Alternative Hypotheses. Use statistical notation to state the main effects you will examine (see Warner p. 778).

3) Optional – Check for normality and outliers (Analyze>Descriptive Statistics>Explore) and for the homogeneity of the variance/covariance matrixes (Analyze>General Linear Model > Multivariate> options > homogeneity tests). Comment on the results of these tests. Even if you do not meet the model assumptions, continue with the remainder of the analysis.

4) Conduct the MANOVA, with follow-up Univariate ANOVAs
