Observable Learning Outcomes

Your first major task in our class is to create five observable learning outcomes from each course in your degree plan. You will use these outcomes to guide your internship activities and the development of major projects for this class. The key goal of this course is for you to apply what you have learned over the course of your degree program and demonstrate your application of self-developed learning outcomes through your internship and your course projects. As often as possible, you should create observable learning outcomes that you can actively apply to your internship environment.

If a course that you have taken does not match with your internship environment (for example, a course that is focused on infant/toddler or school-age children will not apply to a preschool environment), then an observable outcome for that course could include a research paper or compiling a resource file about a related topic. Our course will provide plenty of examples and resources to help you meet your self-created learning outcomes and demonstrate your mastery of observable outcomes for your instructor.

To begin the task of creating your own observable learning outcomes, you need to consult the syllabi for all of the courses that you have taken up to this point in your degree program. Please consult the Central Texas College Course Syllabi page where you can read and download all the syllabi you will need for this assignment. Consulting these syllabi, carefully and in detail, will help you identify what you need to master in terms of applied, observable outcomes in this course.

Below, you will also find a list of courses and the specific learning outcomes that apply to each of the courses required for the AAS degree in Child Development.

Look back at all of the courses that you have taken for your degree program and develop five observable learning outcomes based on each course you have taken. As you develop the learning outcomes that will guide your progress and processes in this course, remember that your goal will be to demonstrate, with evidence, that you are meeting these outcomes in observable, visible, applicable ways. You will have to show your instructor how you meet each of the learning outcomes that you develop for yourself.

To successfully complete this assignment:

  • Write five observable learning outcomes that apply to your degree program, based on the content of each course listed below. These learning outcomes will be the driving force of your processes and practices in this course.
  • Please write your learning outcomes by drawing on the language and formatting of the course outcomes listed below.
  • Use word processing software and compile your learning outcomes in one list that you will submit to your instructor.
  • Save a copy for yourself, as you will use these outcomes many times throughout the course.
  • Please submit this assignment for instructor review before proceeding.
