The biggest commonality of the ancient Egyptian beliefs to some of the big 4 religions is the belief of life after death. Although ancient Egypt didn’t have a concept of hell, they did have a sort of really basic concept of heaven with the rebirth of the pharaohs in the sky and with Osiris. The Ba and the Ka concept also coincides with other religions’ concept of life after death, as they both include the idea of being the same person on the other side. The Egyptian obsession with living forever can be related to the culture of today. Scientists today are heavily obsessed with figuring out living for eternity, and are working on ways to do so (freezing would be a good example). Although freezing is not mummification, there is a small similarity with the bodies not being destroyed and kept safe.

Seeing the video talk about the sound God, the sky Goddess, and the pharaohs reuniting with Osiris in the Underworld reminds me of the Greek Gods, like Hades and Zeus. Hades is known as God of the Underworld and in the video it mentions Osiris and the Underworld. This connection/reminder can come from the fact that Egypt was taken over by Greece, although my time periods may be wrong. Even Native American and African religions have different Gods like thunder, wind, Earth, and seas that can remind us of the Greek Gods most of us are familiar with. As some Native American religions were circumpolar religions, the pyramid of Khufu has a north-facing entrance aligned with the circumpolar stars which were called indestructibles. Ancient Egyptian beliefs can also relate to other religions with the symbolism of nature, especially with the sun and stars. These are the kind of connections I made from the Egyptian beliefs to other religions.
