Walden University HIV and AIDS Public Health Story Board Campaign

In Week 6, you developed a storyboard that could be used to create a media channel / document for the health risk related to your health communication campaign. How does a health educator go from developing a storyboard to capturing a media channel / document for a health communication campaign?

Not surprisingly, within the field of health education, budgets for certain heath programs do not account for extensive use of or development of media. Within the subset of health communication campaigns, health risk messages convey a health risk based on certain health behaviors. Nevertheless, by understanding how to create brief health risk messages, you can develop brief health risk videos without incurring large costs. The media channel / document may also have the added benefit of reaching large segments of the population. When developing your media channel / document, you must convey a health risk associated with a behavior and offer resources to gain further information on the risk.

For this Discussion, review the storyboard that you developed in Week 6. Reflect on what considerations you should keep in mind when creating a media channel / document based on a storyboard for a health risk related to your health communication campaign.

Post and upload the media channel / document, based on the storyboard that you developed in Week 6. The following formats can be used to create your media channel / document:

1) Social network platform (Facebook page or twitter account)

2) Video – 2 minutes (See Kaltura Media Uploader instructions)

3) Audio PSA – 2 minutes (See Kaltura Media Uploader instructions)

4) PowerPoint presentation – voice over OR script in notes section

5) Interactive skill-based worksheet (assess and/improve current behavior or attitudes)

6) Educational series of brochures / materials

Keep in mind that you must convey a health risk associated with a health behavior that is related to your health topic of your health communication campaign.

My choice of health communication campaign would be the prevention campaign against HIV/AIDS, through the mass media. The campaign will help people have an increase in knowledge about sex, change of sexual behaviors, improve in risk perception, as well as criticism of hypothetically risky social norms. The campaign aims to utilize television, radio, as well as other ideally means a fragment of the multi-level exertions.
